Avenue Aesthetic Surgery is here to help you make the informed choice
What you need to know
At Avenue Aesthetic Surgery, we have over 30 years’ experience in diagnosing and treating skin cancers. Skin cancer surgery is performed as a Day Case in a fully equipped, registered and accredited Day Procedure Centre. Skin lesions are removed under a local anaesthetic at our Melbourne clinic.
When it comes to treating suspected skin cancers, your peace of mind is paramount. That’s why we always send a sample (biopsy) for analysis to determine whether the removed skin lesion was benign or cancerous and whether or not it was removed completely.
Even minor surgery carries risks which are important to understand so that you make a well-informed decision. Complications associated with skin cancer surgery or mole removal include bleeding, infection, poor scarring and incomplete excision requiring further treatment.
This listing is not all-inclusive and patients may be at risk for additional complications depending on their past medical and surgical history. A thorough discussion will occur during consultation with your surgeon including ways to mitigate risks prior to surgery and steps taken to treat complications should they occur.
*ANY SURGICAL OR INVASIVE PROCEDURE CARRIES RISKS. BEFORE PROCEEDING, YOU SHOULD SEEK A SECOND OPINION FROM AN APPROPRIATELY QUALIFIED HEALTH PRACTITIONER.
