Capsules come in different forms and this determines what type of capsulectomy can be performed.
This first image above is an example of Total Capsulectomy made possible by the capsule being adherent to the implant and not the surrounding issues.
Below is an example of Total Capsulectomy made possible by the thickness of the capsule which was 20 years old, calcified, in front of the muscle and surrounding a leaking silicone implant.
The two examples below are of very thin non-diseased capsules surrounding smooth walled implants behind the muscle. As the capsules were adherent to the muscle and ribs, only the lower part under the skin could be safely removed.
